Higgsfield Katana remakes an edit that already works around your own character, face or product: same cuts, same timing, same sound, and no editor. It runs inside Claude through the Higgsfield MCP. I tested it twice with an original character: once on a community preset (about 657 credits, almost exactly Claude's quote) and once on my own 15-second sword fight (quoted at about 336 credits). What impressed me most was the planning. Claude reads every cut and every title before it spends a single credit.
What is Katana in Claude, and how does it work?
Katana is a Higgsfield tool powered by Claude Motion and the Higgsfield MCP. You give it two things:
- An edit that already works: a reference video of 3 to 30 seconds, such as an aura-farming edit, an AI anime edit or an outfit check.
- Photos of your character, face or product: up to 5 with a community preset, or up to 40 with your own reference.
Katana then rebuilds the edit around your photos, keeping the same cuts, timing and sound.
How do you install Higgsfield in Claude with the Higgsfield MCP?
- Get a Higgsfield account with credits.
- Open the Katana page on Higgsfield.
- Click Install Higgsfield in Claude. It opens Claude's connector settings with the Higgsfield name and MCP address already filled in.
- In a Claude chat, type
/katanato open the preset catalog. Pick a community preset and press recreate, or add your own reference video.
How do you make a character Katana can learn?
My star is an original character, not a real person, made locally with Qwen Image 2.1 Turbo. I made one close-up of her face and four full-body shots, then swapped that face onto all four so she looks like the same person every time. Make sure your photos agree with each other, because Katana learns who your character is from them.
Can Katana remake a community preset with your own character?
I picked the community preset "Cinematic Glitch Action" by tinselfromspace and gave it my five photos. Before spending a credit, Claude went through the whole reference frame by frame and showed me a plan with a cost quote. I asked it to stay under 700 credits with no retries. It even threw out one of its own background images because it spotted a stray boot walking through the frame.
Cost: the run came to about 657 credits, almost exactly Claude's quote.
Can Katana in Claude remake your own edit?
Yes. For the second test I used a 15-second rooftop sword fight I'd made on Higgsfield. Getting that fight right took a few takes. Long continuous shots looked fine at full speed but melted when slowed down. What fixed it was five short shots with hard cuts and one simple move each, plus cheap low-resolution drafts first, finishing only the one that worked.
My instruction to Katana:
replace the swordsman with my character, and keep the ninja
Claude broke the edit into seven cuts, planned four new shots and quoted about 336 credits.
Where did Higgsfield Katana slip?
- A glowing blade. Her katana picked up a red glow, a bit like a lightsaber. Claude flagged it, and I kept it.
- An awkward first cut. The first cut of the fight remake opened on a wide, awkward stance, and for a second the background jumped to a giant water tank. I asked Claude to redo just those two shots, and it re-cut the edit around them.
Is Higgsfield Katana worth it?
It's worth it if you've watched an edit and thought "I want that, but with my own character". You get there without opening an editor. The most impressive part was the planning: Claude reads every cut and every title before it spends anything, and the final cost landed almost exactly on its quote. You can start from the Katana page. For the video models themselves, see my Kling 4.0 tutorial, and every tool I've tested is on the AI video models hub.
